The project's objective was to design and implement the first fully independent and comprehensive community mini-grid for the entire remote un-electrified farmers' community, La Gracia. What set this project apart was the need to incorporate strategies to not only provide a technical solution but also take into consideration all socio-economic aspects. It was of highest priority to provide fair electricity supply across the community which was achieved by capping each household’s electricity use equally. By incorporating fairness in both the supply and purchase of electricity, the community mini-grid aimed to create a sustainable and inclusive energy ecosystem that benefited all residents, regardless of their socio-economic status.

Gone are the days of studying by candlelight and spoiled food due to the absence of proper cooling. La Gracia Village received electricity thanks to a state-of-the-art centralized community mini-grid. This remarkable Commercial Off-Grid Solar System is powering over 40 households, the local school, the village water pump, and even the football field with round-the-clock electricity. With the convenience of prepaid options, residents can easily access and purchase electricity as needed. La Gracia Village's newfound electrification is not only enhancing the quality of life for its residents but also symbolizes a brighter future.
